Shoes.

Our son has very thick, odd sized shoes. He requires two different sizes and widths, so this post will outline some of the shoe options we have tried.

Soft Star Shoes

www.softstarshoes.com

They make leather slippers with sheepskin lining in regular and custom sizes for birth through adult. No extra charge for odd sized shoes. Perfect customer service! Their website has outlines of each shoe that you can print at home to check fit prior to purchase. As an additional bonus, they are located in OR, and use USA make materials. If the standard sizes won’t work in your situation, the elves at Soft Star will make a custom pair.

Preschoolians

www.preschoolians.com

They make soft style shoes that accommodate many feet. They will give a discount on multiple pairs to accommodate odd sized feet. The down side is they have a re-stocking fee if you want a refund rather than an exchange, so I recommend ordering one of the nifty devices to check fit prior to purchase.

Keeping Pace

www.keepingpace.com

This is a nice company whose market is orthopedic shoes (designed for AFO’s). They also give a discount on multiple pairs to accommodate odd sized feet. The downside Keeping Pace is that they have a limited selecton. The upside is that they include cutting lines, etc. to make orthopedic build ups easier.

Nordstrom's

www.nordstroms.com

Nordstrom’s earns a special place in this review as they sell odd sized shoes (with a 1.5 size difference between feet and above) for no additional fee. So you or your child can enjoy properly fitting shoes for a normal cost. When we have used this program, the clerks have been very helpful and informative. The downside is that they have a limited amount of specialty shoes for very wide/thick feet.
